Imaging is a vital issue for the life sciences, providing detailed information on plant structure and functioning, particularly under stress.

A wide range of fields of expertise

  • A shared platform on two sites: Cirad Lavalette et La Gaillarde
  • Plant cytology and anatomy.
  • Plant imaging, both in vivo and under physiological conditions.
  • Bioluminescent and fluorescent nanosensors for in vivo measurements (pH, ROS, Ca++, hormones).
  • High-throughput histology and in situ hybridization.
  • Combination of images from several sources: multi-modal imaging (histology, RX, MRI, synchrotron, etc).
  • 3-D and 4-D fluorescence imaging, multi-spectral imaging.
  • In situ gene expression studies.
  • Scaling up to high-throughput and responding to new plant phenotyping needs on a cell and tissue level.
  • Image analysis, digital images: a calculation aid with a multitude of types of information, modelling support.
  • Super-resolution microscopy (Single particle tracking).

  • New-generation multi-photon and confocal microscopes.
  • Automatic histology and in situ hybridization equipment.
  • Structured illumination microscope.
  • Microdissection laser.

  • Pooling of expertise held by CIRAD and INRA (UMRs AGAP and B&PMP).
  • Open to numerous research teams from other establishments including in the field of animal biology and health (IRD, UM, CNRS, Montpellier SupAgro, etc.).
